Where appropriate I will also draw up detailed plans for hard landscaping - paths, paving, patios, driveways and car parking. This project included hard landscaping of the front garden and the patio at the rear of the house.
I built this patio of flagstones and complementary brick inserts, incorporating planting spaces. These were planted with flag iris and Mediterranean shrubs to soften and screen the rear wall of the house. Having removed the original concrete, I needed to render the base of the brick wall. The construction had to allow for a change in level across the space and different heights of damp course on the house and extension. Three pathways (from the the side passage and two exits from the house) are accommodated around an area for table and chairs, while access is also provided to an outside tap. I laid electric cabling for the water feature under the patio.
For
the front garden and driveway I provided detailed plans, and selected
a local contractor to carry out this job to my specifications.
